Hey, I’m Aaiza. Nice to meet you!

I’m Aaiza, a product designer who strives to solve problems by systematically asking critical questions and designing beautiful solutions. With a background in Software Engineering, I create solutions with keeping technical limitations in mind. I like to think holistically and think of user needs alongside business goals.

I see the scope of human-centered design beyond just a computer screen. It’s a mindset we develop and it manifests itself in every interaction we have with those around us. With this philosophy, as a designer I try to craft meaningful experiences while putting myself in the user’s shoes.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring nature, and the intersection of tech and social impact.

A Developer turned Designer

I originally landed my first internship as a sole UI/UX Designer for a local startup. I then became a self-taught coder because I was excited to build out my designs, and went off to do a few Software Engineering internships.

But throughout the time, I had always still been fascinated by the ‘Why’ behind the code I would write at work. This led me to exploring the field of UX in depth, and after a few part-time design roles and side projects later, I fell in love with the art of problem solving.

I like to think of myself as a full-stack product designer who can lead a project from research & design to the prototyping phase to ensure a smooth developer handoff (and sometimes even jumping on the development side and helping build it out :))

Design & Social Impact

Design I believe can have a widespread positive impact on the world around us, if utilized correctly. Whether it be designing apps that help help feed the homeless or apps that help build mindfulness practices, it can dramatically impact the world.

I recently taught a Design Thinking camp to high school kids living in a displaced community.  Despite having limited resources, their goals and passions to help out their community was an eye-opener for me.  All they needed was education and mentorship, which gave them so much confidence that they went on to participate in international hackathons and join universities worldwide.
